Eliaser Hernandez, who has been on the mound in the KBO League since August last year as a "replacement foreign player," will prepare for the opening of the 2025 season with his LG teammates this year.
Hernández threw his third bullpen session for this year's spring camp at Scottsdale, Arizona. Hernández threw 25 pitches on the day. The maximum speed of his fastball was 146.9 kilometers per hour.
"Today, I threw a bullpen session with the theme of how to handle curves effectively and how to use fastballs effectively," Hernandez said through the LG team. "First of all, I still feel good. After today's pitching, I had time to study and think about how to get better during the season while talking with coach Kim Kwang-sam."
An LG official said, "Hernandez's condition is improving as he pitches more."
Hernandez had an average record of 3-2 with one save, one hold and an earned run average of 4.02 in 11 games last year during the regular season. He started in nine of 11 games and played as a relief pitcher in two games.안전놀이터
After entering the postseason, Hernandez pitched in all six games of relief and pitched a perfect 0 ERA with three saves and one hold (11 innings of 7 hits, 15 strikeouts).
LG re-signed Hernandez for up to $1.3 million (down payment of $300,000, annual salary of $800,000, incentive of $200,000).
Hernandez recalled, "I felt that Korean hitters were smart while playing in the KBO league last year. I analyzed and studied until the end of the season to deal with smart hitters." The analysis' results came from the fall stage. My teammates' trust gave me a bigger boost.
"My entire team helped me a lot in the postseason last year," Hernandez said. "Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop told me before the postseason that he could go to the middle or finish line, so I prepared physically and psychologically. I took the mound feeling a sense of responsibility that I had to endure in a crisis."
Hernandez is preparing to play as a 'starting pitcher' in the LG spring camp for the first time.
"We are happily preparing for the season because the players and staff welcomed and cared for us," he said. "At the end of the camp, we will be able to finish preparing for the season well."
Hernandez said, "I was satisfied with everything I had in Korea last year. Even when I was living in Korea, Koreans were kind and greeted me well," adding, "I'm happy to be back in a country with a polite culture. I like galbitang and pork belly for food."
Hernandez's current goal is to finish the 2025 season with a winning ceremony.
Hernandez said, "My goal this season is to win. I want to show 100 percent of my ability and achieve the championship that I couldn't win last year," adding, "Thank you for your fans' support. Please give me a lot of support this season as well."
